Sun Protection For Hikers
Morning, fam! 🙂
Hitting the trails and getting some fresh air and exercise is great for the mind and body, but it’s important to remember that the sun’s rays can be just as dangerous as the steep inclines and rocky terrain. So, I’ve put together a little guide on how to protect yourself from the sun while hiking.
First things first, you want to make sure you’re wearing a hat with a wide brim to protect your face, ears and neck from the sun. A bandana or a neck gaiter can also be a good option.
Next, make sure to apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30, and reapply every 2 hours, especially if you’re sweating or swimming. Don’t forget to protect your lips with a lip balm with SPF.
Wearing clothing that covers your skin is also important. Loose-fitting, long-sleeved shirts and pants made from a breathable, quick-drying fabric will help keep you cool while also providing sun protection.
And last but not least, remember to stay hydrated by bringing enough water and electrolytes to keep you going throughout your hike.
So, there you have it fam, a few tips on how to protect yourself from the sun while hitting the trails. Remember to always be prepared and stay safe in the great outdoors.
